Total War: NAPOLEON App Reviews

I wouldn’t download it

It would have been nice to have this app restricted from those who didn’t have the hardware to fullfill the requirements. my 2011 macbook pro, still fast as a lightening with 8GB ram and plenty of memory can’t handle the extensive graphics of this game. There’s a lot of skipping over. Can’t get past 2 turns in campaign mode. and the battles are choppy with a .5 second delay per command. My mouse is also skipping, popping up at random places on my screen. It would be nice to get a refund so i could purchase a different game that I can actually play.

Beware, it crashes like crazy

This game was awesome. I would have given it 5 stars. However after OS updates and no updates from the game makers, this game is unplayable. The game crashes for me about every 10-15 mintues, right to the desktop. Sometimes even more frequently. Nothing I do changes it. No matter what I am doing; moving an army, clicking on a city, etc etc. It just crashes...

New Game Idea

I love this game and all of the other games in the Total War series. I think that Total War should make a game with a modern map and modern troops.

Crash after crash after crash after crash...

Fix your game, please. It keeps crashing and there’s no autosave! I can’t even fight the Italian campaign!

WARNING: CRASHES CONSTANTLY

Even after reading the reviews that warned of crashes, I still made the decision to download this game. I have the new MacBook Pro and was sure that there would be no issue. Things were fine for awhile, but then…as warned…the game started crashing every ten minutes or so. I tried removing and reinstalling it…but nothing works. And I cannot get anyone to respond from the alleged “support” from this game. Until these issues are fixed, do not waste your money. What good is having a great game if you can’t play it?

Wont Even Start

The game installed fine, took 2 hrs, but when i tried to open the game it wont go passed the first screen with all the copywrite stuff. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and the same thing happened. Im using a 2013 Macbook Pro. I took a chance even after reading all the bad reviews and it jut doesnt work. Needs to be fixed!!!!

Why does this version always crash?

I love the Total War franchise and have owned and played Empire and Rome I on a Mac. I purchased the Napoleon TW installment on Mac when it initially came out and had zero issues, although I would say the graphics and sound are comparatively lame to PC versions (i.e. smoke/fog effect non-existent, disappearing bodies, musket fire sounds more like a pop gun, etc.). Then, about 5 months ago, my hard drive crashed and I had to replace it. Ever since the crash and recent update, this game crashes like crazy. As other customers have observed, it will randomly and unexpectedly crash and send me to my desktop every 5-10 minutes; sometimes within a few minutes of opening it. This game is remarkable, and easily 4-5 stars, except for the crashes. Can someone please fix this?! And soon?! I’ve always been a Mac guy but my Total War addiction needs to be fed! If this keeps up I might just have to start looking at PC gaming consoles.

Not sure

What’s up with everyones game, but mine works fantastically. I have really enjoyed the Total War series, especially Empire, and Napoleon is a sequel of sorts. Obviously it is not a direct sequel, however you can think of it as a successor. In some ways this game is not as ‘deep’ as Empire, the ‘world’ does not span the entire planet (of course Empire left out huge chunks as well) which is kind of a shame (no War of 1812 redo’s for us Americans lol). However it kind of makes up for this by having a far more detailed European map, for example France is no longer one huge chunk, but has more regions to conquer. The one part of the game play mechanics I really don’t like is replenishing troops after battles, unlike in Empire where you can buy the replacement troops to bring units up to full strength, you must wait as, often very very slowly, replacement troops trickle in. The rate of repenishment is dependent on the region you are in, i.e. the region must be able to produce the same units in order to, realitively quickly, bring your order of battle back up to strength. I’ve found that this can bog down game play, I must have multipul armies in order to conduct campains at any reasonable pace. The game seems to counteract these limitations somewhat by not relying on sheer numbers to fully balance fights, however being out numbered 2 to 1 is with half strength regiments is tough for any general. I do like how artillery is implemented, and how moral is shown. As was the case during the actual Napoleonic Wars, artilery was the ‘shock and awe’ of the day. They were powerful weapons, and Nepoleon used them to deveastating effect. In Empire cannons were powerful, but not always decisive unless heavily massed and up close with canister shot, but in this game even long range solid shot can be a powerful factor. I also really like the depth of naval units, there really aren’t that many more, it just feels more realistic (if that can apply to a video game) and less generic. Of course over all the graphics are more detailed, and the effects are very nice. I guess I should say what computer I’m playing on (I always find it helpful to know what other people are using); 21.5 iMac, 2.9 i5, 8gb, GT 750M 1gb, and it runs fantastic.

wonderful game, crashes a lot

i Have to say that this is a wonderful game, but this game is bad bout getting to a buildup point then crashing

Crashes

Unplayable because it crashes frequently. Please fix.

Fantastic game, BUT READ THIS!

This game will definitely have you hooked and it is the best total war game in my opinion. It is definitely worth checking out. One thing however, if you have the option to do so on a windows, then play it on there because this game on Mac crashes way too much. Expect it crashing every 2-3 minutes.

Great game but crashes DONT BUY IT

As said before easily 5 star game, but it crahes all the time. Can someone tell me how to get my money back? pleaseeeee.

Game crash

the game is crashing everytime I play it, I wonder how the support see these comments and dont solve the issue, I paid for it it should work right,,, please fixxxxxxxx it

some times its good

it kinda is a fun game but when you get to the campaign its ridiculas. when your a begginner you want it to be easy right, well even if you press the “easy” mode it still as difficult as medium or hard.the battles are bad too.the graphics you see up above is FAKE the graphics even on high aren’t as good as the ones above. you should not spend your money on this onless your up for extremely hard gameplay. I reccomend you spend your hours and money on Empire total war and not on this ripoff above.

Keeps Crashing!!!

I’m a long time fan of the Total War series but this version has certainly left a sour taste. I have a mid 2014 Macbook Pro with specs that should more than adequate to support the game. However, even if I run the game on the lowest resolution it continues to crash. It crashes randomly and more frequently as the map playing area and army sizes increases. As it stands it is crashing at almost every turn. It can crash during battles, when the AI is making its moves on the map, when I’m making moves on the map etc…. I’ve even resorted to simulating all my battles because it’s infuriating when the game crashes 40 minutes into an epic battle. I have also had to resort to saving the game after every move because the crash often causes me to lose the last autosave/quicksave. Unless this issue is resolved I would strongly urge people NOT to purchase the game. Personally, I will not purchase another product from he total war franchise until the issues with this game are resolved. (Hopefully sooner rather than later….)

Crashing fixed

Simply log out of Game Center before opening the game, problem solved.

Game is fun when it runs..

Unfortunately this game crashes every few minutes, otherwise it would be pretty decent to play. It’s just too bad that no one cares to fix these issues a few years on… It really is very frustrating

Are you kidding?

Was very hopeful about this game. New MacBook Pro 2.5 GHz, 16 GB RAM, AMD Radeon R9 with 2 GB for video. Couldn’t get through the first Tutorial. Got to the Swiss border and the sound breaks up, game runs slow, the Mac crashes, and don’t even get me started on how the camera works. Settings on the minimum of everything. I don’t like to criticize but I would not buy this game given a second chance. What a disappointment. Some day there ought to be consumer protection against games like this.

Very good at crashing!

This game has tons of potential and was pretty fun for the couple of tutorial missions I was able to complete. However, the frequency of crashes makes this game unplayable for me. I’m running the game on a 15-inch Mid 2015 MacBook Pro.

Great Game but DO NOT BUY UNTIL THEY FIX BUGS

I love the Total War series. They’re great games and Napoleon is right up there with some of the best, but this game is super buggy. Constantly crashes, even running with up to date OS X. Whats amazing is this game is sever years old, but they still havent fixed the bugs for those running the game on Macs. Dont waste your money until they fix it.
